Sexual Assult awareness month: together we’ll break the silence
****TRIGGER WARNING*** Blog contents contain sensitive information.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), and we had the chance to talk with Annarose, the founder of 50fifty.co. Our mutual objective is to spread awareness and start the conversation around a topic that’s too often avoided but desperately needs more attention. There are so many reason people do not speak up about sexual assault including shame, fear, disappointment, and embarrassment. We want to help change that by normalizing the conversation and making sure survivors feel seen, heard, and supported. The more we talk about it, the more we can raise awareness, educate others, and work toward prevention.
Annarose started 50fifty.co because of her own personal experience and her drive to break the silence around sexual violence. By wearing and sharing merch with the 50Fifty logo, there’s a chance to show support, start the conversation, and empower survivors, whether that’s in a quiet way or loud and proud. It’s also about helping create a culture where consent, respect, and safety are the norm. A portion of the proceeds go to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) and for the month of April 100% of the proceeds will be going to RAINN. By normalizing the conversation, we can make space for survivors to be heard, understood, and supported meanwhile bringing more awareness to the impact and consequences of sexual assault.
